Thanks, Henning.
With H-alpha at 656 nm, I don't need to actually get into IR. I think  
the problem with DSLRs and astrophotography is that the IR-cut filters  
intrude into the deep-red part of the spectrum.
I'll look into the T-to-R-to-M possibility. Thanks.
