It is mainly that the prices are so low in the USA that margins are tiny. 
Porsches cost less in California than half way round the globe where they 
are made in Stuttgart. Nikons are cheaper in New York than Tokyo. The US 
market is so price driven that the rest of the "first world" is much more 
profitable.
It has always amazed me that I have to pay 50 to 100% more for the same item 
than an American, I don't know why it is...

I am having a very hard time wrapping my head around the idea that the? 
US is not a lucrative market for anyone.? In fact, the very idea makes? 
my head swim.
