As long as you know it works for you that's all that matters! It's your work, your eye and your results!? You like it? Then stay the course! These photographs illustrate you are on the right track quickly in handling the shallow focus effects and being right on the mark for the sharp focus point. Make it into a work horse lens and you will come away with many different looking images under some rather difficult light and shallow depth of focus situations.?
