I used a 50/2 Summicron 90% of the time. I used a 28/2.8 Elmarit occasionally, and a 90/2.8 very little. I rarely changed lenses, IOW, even with primes. If I had a 28-70 zoom I'd probably end up with most of my shots at 50mm. That seems to be the angle at which I see things. BTW, I hiked a lot in very hot weather. The D700 w/50 never seemed heavy. It only seems weighty with big lenses attached. The 50 Summicron is a marvelous lens. Quick and versatile, and it sure knows how to herd photons into the proper corrals on a full frame sensor. Sometimes I look at the new AF 50s that have been introduced recently and wonder what, if anything, they offer over the Summicron. Less user involvement, I suppose. I wouldn't have to focus. OTOH, focusing is one of those little things that causes me feel like I'm crafting the shot :-). Dave R
