I have a Mamiya 7. I used it for landscapes when hiking. Fabulous. In
2005 we went to Iceland on holiday. I took the Mamiya 7, as usual, and
my newish then Canon EOS 1Ds mk2.
Sometimes (where I was not hiking) I shot with both, on a tripod.
When the film was returned I scanned the shots which I liked on a
Nikon Coolscan 8000. The Mamiya scans produced better prints than the
Canon, but not by as much as I was expecting, I would attribute most
of the difference to the lens, the 43mm Mamiya is -much- better than
the Canon 16-35 zoom.
I stopped shooting with the Mamiya altogether when I got the M8. Light
for hiking, superlative WA lenses and digital rather than film.
Superior in every way IME.
