It is much easier for me now the Euro exists, less currencies to change, but I started using my card many years ago since the exchange rate was better than the banks and exchange bureaux offer. It also means far less waste if one has changed too much and have to change it back. For a once in a while trip my habit may not save much, but for me it has been useful. I use one charge card only and pay it off immediately, ie I do not use credit at all.
