There is a certain intensity with Friedlander's image of Madona which rings true. (to me at least) Granted, she's a bit fuzzy for puppy love but reality images as opposed to set-ups always have appeal. BTW, I was living in Memphis circa 1971. A show at the local art school by Friedlander, Les Krims, Ralph Gibson and others caused such a stir the dean's daughter was kidnapped. She wasn't released until the images were removed. I'm sure the felons involved had Jesus on their side. :) ciao Walt
