lenses, I came accross a problem which troubled me and then I seem to have
solved. So for any others using the G1- with an "M" adapter, please note:
The G1 has a very nice hand grip which contains the shutter release in the
same position as most DSLRs. Slightly above where the hand goes and below
the shutter release is a small horizontal adjustment dial. What I found was,
if one was not careful, while using the camera in aperture priority mode-
(which ostensibly you must do when using an adapter- because the lenses not
made for the camera do not mate with the automatic aperture contacts), one
would touch the wheel which was permanently connected to the exposure
compensation. Therefore without realizing it, it was almost impossible to
avoid changing your exposure without meaning to, unless you kept your eye on
the scale and corrected the inadvertant change. Considering that I am now
focusing the camera and watching my aperture, this additional item was
bothering me. This only takes place in the aperture priority mode ("A")
because in all other modes, the little wheel is toggled, and takes a second
push of a button to engage exposure compensation. I noticed today, however,
that contrary to what would normally be expected, once the lens is attached
with the adapter, the digicam will operate exactly the same way with the
mode dial set to "P" (program mode) and the toggle then applies and the
problem is solved. I am enjoying the results of my imaging, some of which I
