Subject: [Leica] New M8 Firmware 2.004

I have downloaded and installed the latest Firmware using the provided
instructions. There were no problems with the installation. I shot a single
frame on the current SDHC card and removed it. I formatted a 2GB SD card and
copied the firmware to that. After the successful install, I replaced the
first card into the camera. The camera preserved every single one of my
personal settings , including the file numbering.
There is a new menu selection called Advance. When you select the 'discreet'
option, the delayed recocking works as advertised. My first impression is
that the shutter noise in my original M8 is actually louder than the
recocking noise. I did not expect that. In any event the upgrade was trouble
free and replacing a card with a previous exposure on it has meant I have
not had to redo a single setting. Remarkable.
