Bingo!

That's it - the 50mm with a cropped frame is a different perspective 
than a true 100mm lens !!!!

Or to truly exaggerate the phenomena, use a very wide angle lens, and 
crop the image to equivalent to the longer focal length (e.g 18mm 
cropped to what a 75mm will show).  I'm thinking the image will have the 
perspective of the 18mm lens (i.e. large nose if image is a face), but 
image size might be equivalent to the 75mm. 

DOF is whatever the 18mm lens aperture was set at.

Right?
