I have 100,000 images in Lightroom that I just converted to Lightroom 2 
(which Adobe graciously permitted me to purchase, after completing a 
background check). As I added images in Lightroom 1, I did not notice any 
particular slowdown as more and more images went in. I have seen no evidence 
that the speed of Lightroom changes as you add more images.
