Bob,

here's the latest entry-level Rebel.

I used a lot of Leica and Zeiss glass on the Canon 300D, the first 
digital Rebel, the viewfinder is rather dim, and it's hard to focus with 
wide angle lenses - a problem if you're trying to limit DOF - for macro 
work it only became an option with a magnifier.
I have read that the VF of the newer Rebels are much better.(but I moved 
up to a 20D - and stayed there)
