Jim, sounds like you scanner software is not producing a greyscale image.
Obviously must be scanning them as negs, but I bet that output is set to
colour, not greyscale. I bet some setting has changed.

For some strange reason, when I scan images with my Minolta Dimage II (set
at b/w negative), the images are coming up as sepia (rather than b/w) on
screen.  When I convert these to .gif files for web posting, they go back to
black and white.  Any idea what I should be doing to just get black and
white?
