Vick,

Within your restraints, you have 2 choices, an M8 or the RD-1.  The Rd-1 has 
it's own set of problems, most significantly the rangefinder alignment 
issue.  If you want to widen your list to DSLRs then any Canon with a 
adapter will allow use of Leica R lenses.  Although I'm not rteal keen on 
the EOS system, too much like a computer to me, and the Nikon's do not allow 
the use of R glass.

Since you have an M8 right now, keep it and use it, the RD-1 is not of the 
same level, image wise nor features.  You will not be happy with anything 
else.
