My experience with the 12-60 and the 35-100/2 is different from 
yours. They auto-focus (and manual focus, for that matter) just fine. 
Make sure you have the latest firmware and if you are using the 
12-60, there is a "recall" for some of the earlier serial # lens. For 
manual focus, the screen is no Ms, what SLR would be? But it is 
definitely not far from D3 etc.
