The island was evidently used to raise hogs a long time ago and in the 1920's it became Fort Duvall, a coastal artillery battery... I've seen photos of some very large guns which were there: <http://ed-thelen.org/J-McGrath/FTDuvall.jpg> When I was a teenager in the late '50s, one could drive by, but not enter the island. It was still named Little Hog Island and had become the site of a Nike missile defense base: <http://ed-thelen.org/J-McGrath/FTDuvall.jpg> for the tracking and control of 30 Nike Ajax Hercules missiles at a companion site across Hingham Bay in Weymouth. Now it is named Spinnaker Island and is a gated condominium complex built on the remains of the Nike base. One can still drive by, but not enter the island. :-( Jim P.S. The companion missile site, several miles away, has become a nice park in which to walk Philippe AMARD wrote: > Very pleasant light Jim. > > What's the isaland in the background in the first photo?
