Vick,

Do you have Lens Detection  ON+UV/IR set?  Even though you may not have any 
coded lenses this should be what you use.  I was told this when I went to 
the M8 Seminar Leica put on last year.  I have no purple shadows or purple 
anything, unless it is purple.  My snow shots are just fine.
