Subject: [Leica] December 2007 LUG Photo Contest results

This is obviously what makes for horse races, Philippe. I think this is a 
truly classic shot, capturing the deterioration of old age, relationships, 
and caring. What you see as cluter, I see as detail. What you see as gray 
and washed out,  I see as proper tonality. It's a soft scene, with soft 
tones. I could see a bit of cropping on the margins, but to me this lovely 
image is all about the subject and the details.

I noticed it when going through last months entries after the  
announcement of the winners, but for me, the content of the shot (I  
love the scene) prevails above the technical aspects of it. The  
latter being easier to improve: more contrast, some dodging and  
burning. I suppose it's a rather flat scan of a greatly caught scene.

It must have been a difficult month to judge, though: a lot of  
overall quality.
