So, what do I find upon my return but suggestions about what to do with my
cat Alex (and what to do it with.)

Just so you know, he's quite a photography fan.  In fact, I came home a
coupla years ago and found him expressing his feeling that a Dennis Stock
repro I had in the living room needed a strong subject to fill some empty
space:
