Hello Gilbert,

I recieved today this reply from Leica Solms,
no word about the influence of the Firmware-versieon:

Dear Mr. Hess,

Thanks for your interest in the Leica system.

Sorry about our delay. ( It took a few weeks to answer FH)

When you want to use Leica R8 / DM-R- with some Metz flashguns

in the complete function you need the SCA adapter 3502 M4.

The Metz 54 Mz-3 with SCA-adapter 3502 M3 and Metz 50Mz-5 with

SCA-adapter 3501 M can not work in perfect way.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen / kind regards

from Metz I have become this information: (within 1 day FH)

Dear Mr. Hess,
Since with the film back all the things are fine, the wrong data are
comming from the DMR. Be aware, the adapter SCA3502 (as well as the
former SCA3501) were designed in order of Leica dedicated to their own
film cameras R8, R9 etc. Later, the DMR was introduced but, in that
case, there was no order by Leica to change the electronic inside the
adapter SCA3502 to achieve compatibility until today. If Leica do not
give us an order to up-date the adapter, all the things remains the
same.
Amazing, in the past nobody complaint this matter. But, one of my
collegues was on a Leica exhibition in Wetzlar weeks ago and had a
chance to check a DMR in combination with a R8. Of course, he found the
images a bit too bright but he knows exactly that the ISO was indicated
on flash unit and DMR correctly.
Unfortunately, a DMR was never checked in our company. Therefore a
detailled statement about it is not possible.

Did you set on the flash unit or camera any +/- compensation???

Therefore, we recommend to get in contact with Leica directly to solve
that problem. Since we do not know anything about a DMR we have no
chance to check it.
The ingeneur who has developed our SCA3501/3502 is back in his
department tomorrow. Maybe he knows a bit more about DMR.Best Regards

Dear Mr. Hess,

bad news. According a statement of our specialist, the Leica digital back
DMR was never checked in our company.

Therefore we have no info about it. In your case we recommend to ask Leica
himself.

Best Regards
