I use an SD 800is. If I knew of another camera with its set of 
features, I might consider it. There is none I know of:

Lens starts at 28mm equivalent
Optical image stabilisation
Optical viewfinder

The 870 is similar, but to make room for the larger LCD, the optical 
viewfinder was sacrificed (a poor trade-off IMHO). The distortion can 
be fixed, if that's important to you, and it is to me at times. Low 
light capability is poor, but for subjects that hold still image 
stabilisation makes up for it.

There are many compact models that have lenses that start at 35mm, 
but few at wider angles of view. And there are few with image 
stabilisation.

If you want better high ISO performance, your only option is one of 
the Fuji models that offers the 'Super CCD'. All of them have lenses 
that start at 35mm equivalent.
