Alan,

Thanks for looking.  You are lucky that your photos are 6x9.  That gives you 
a lot of options in choosing a scanner. In my case, I have negatives that 
range from 35mm to 5x7 inches.  The only reasonably-priced option that I 
could find is the Epson 2450 scanner, which will cover negatives up to 4 
inches by 9 inches. With this, I have been able to get acceptable images 
even from full 5x7 negatives which are cropped to 4x7 by the scanner.

I find it great fun to see what the next envelope of negatives has in store. 
There's no time like the present to start working on it.
