i never used to "scotch tape" method, but i did find the
konerman "shades" to be useful (and the web page has a pretty 
nice visual description of the problem)

i personally never found it objectionable on my .72 M6, but
it was problematic with the .85 M6.  so i stuck a
"shade" on it and it made life much better.  the MP does
seem to solve the problem.
