I've had the Elmar M 2.8 50 and the current Summicron. I considered both of
them as really accurate, excellent lenses. I took a few
frames with the collapsible in collapsed position, which does nothing at all
for the focus! My Summicron just occasionally flared
unpredictably, probably an internal reflection issue, otherwise I thought
that it was the epitome of accuracy in its results.
Slobodan's comments re the coatings and their interaction with the sensor
are really interesting. The results from the new glass on
film and sensor will be very interesting indeed. Go ahead and get that 50
from BH and show us some photographs.
Cheers
Geoff

B&H has the 50 and 90 in stock. I've been thinking about the 50 as
well. I've actually held up buying the Elmar since the Summarits were
announced. I suspect the new lens will be better. Closer to the
Summicron. But better doesn't always mean better. We'll see.
