But Ted, the light changes...... Catching the light is important in
non-breathing subjects.....

Certainly a few minutes of setup, focusing, cocking shutters, pulling dark
slides, etc. is in the ballpark.

OT... there is a recent thread on another list about the largest camera.....
never mind the size, the exposure was a week long.....

That is of course, unless you happen to be a rock, fern and non-breathing
subject photographer, then the scene will wait for you to focus for a week!
;-) Or longer! :-)
