Forgot to mention... My wife is a doctor, and her recommendation was 
to do what I did, ie, drink lots of fluids and rest. If that didn't 
work, go lower. Same as the Nepalese recommended. I've since read a 
fair bit on altitude sickness, and on the whole medicines don't seem 
to be very effective; best is going lower or the portable equivalent, 
a hyperbaric chamber.
