To David Rodgers:

Your problem with buying a used item is probably somewhat overblown. In the
analogue days, I very rarely bought new equipment. I have bought 2 used
digitals, an s5i on Ebay and a G5 at Adorama. Both are excellent and no
problem. If there is a test period, there should never be a problem. Your
anti-noise formula is exactly right. The lowest pixels and largest capturing
unit possible will do it. That in a nutshell is the G5. If you are not
bothered by the lag it's a very good buy at about $300 and change used.
As I said and firmly believe, there is an M8 substitute out there somewhere
being worked on. It may be a Zeiss. The last photo show I attended the Zeiss
35m/m had a viewfinder to die for. If they came out with a digital in the
$1,500- $2,000 range how could one say no. If those prices are pipe dreams,
sooner or later there will be a proper fixed lens substitute. It's the
nature of things. Good Luck- vroger
