I was telling friends from the east side of town about the turkeys and
they offered that last Thanksgiving a small flock walked through their
yard just as dinner was being served! The birds peered through
floor-ceiling picture window and gobbled a while before flying up onto
the roof where their scrapping footsteps were heard for most of the
meal which gave rise to an analysis of leftovers and maybe one of
those plump birds would do well for the following Sunday repast. The
footsteps vanished and the turkeys didn't re-appear for some time.
