Philippe,
Two things are going on here.  One, Sonny is intimately familiar with his
home and can edit to his vision.  Second, Carmel and many of the tourist
traps are on the coast and not toward the middle.  Branson, Missouri is a
tourist trap but if you go north or south you will find wonderful little
towns of real people.  Yes, this country is huge but the same could be said
of Europe if you started in Grahams neck of the woods and went east into the
Ukraine there would be huge differences and authentic villages.
