You can purchase a Metz 54MZ-3, used or NOS for $100 or less. Bogen USA in NJ will "upgrade" the circuit board for $50. you then have a MZ-4 in the body of an MZ-3. Then you've got a TTL, bounce / swivel POWERFUL (ASA 150?) flash that sits comfortably on a CTOOM or similar bracket for under $200. The folks at Bogen, NJ are really helpful and will do this conversion for many of the older Metz flashes. You just have to check and see which ones are upgradeable. Along with being able to swap out flash bulbs as they age so the flash is never obsolete, it's one of the great bonuses of shooting Metz. That and ridiculously awesome light. If the 54 is too large for your needs, than this solution won't fit the bill. Bogen can change the circuitry, but not the size. :-( Jeff M ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Schofield" <tomschofield@comcast.net> To: "Leica Users Group" <lug@leica-users.org> Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2007 9:39 AM Subject: Re: [Leica] Flash for the M8 > But way bigger and more $$!
