Gene,
People have succeeded in getting an M8 to read black marker pen lines  
in place of the lens coding, I don't know how soon it will wear off  
but worth a try. I will be annoyed if I do have to pay to change all  
my lens flanges, I would much rather there was a menu choice of lens  
for non-coded lenses.
