On all my 7 MGB's & 2 Healey 3000's, first thing I did when buying was
to replace
the fuse holder with a new one & potted it with RTV silicon on the
bottom side.
Discovered the rust on bottom (out of sight, out of mind) of fuse
holder on my first
B & figured out that it was the logical cause of Lucas woes & came up
with RTV fix.
Also rubber booted distributor & RTV on the plug boots & sealed cap for
the occasional
puddle splash. Always carried spare points, cond, cap & rotor. No
worries driving after
dark for over 300K miles in 10 + years when they were my only form of
transportation.
Other mods were to convert B's to single 12V battery in trunk & use AC
electrical
fuel pump with a pressure regulator to the carbs. Also used Lucas
centrifical advance
distributors on all which made timing easier, even without using a
timing light.
