Leica lenses in the USA have a 3-year "Passport" warranty in which anything
at all is a warranty repair. "I'm sorry, I had a self-control problem and
smashed this lens with a baseball bat. Will you please replace it under
warranty?"

If I'd had a brain in my head, I would have found a local camera shop that
could straighten the threads. I took it to my usual shop and their repair
people refused to touch it, saying "Ooo, that's a Leica lens. We won't touch
it."

Note to self: find a local camera repair shop before the next time you drop
a lens.
