I used to love the Roadrunner cartoons as a kid (and even as a graduate
student). Being a biologist, the "scientific names" given the the roadrunner
were hilarious to me.

Here we go....

Apetitius Giganticus
Caninus Nervous Rex
Carnivorous Slobbius
Carnivorous Vulgaris
Eatibus Almost Anythingus
Eatibus Anythingus
Eatius Birdius
Eatius-Slobbius
Eternalii Famishiis
Evereadii Eatibus
Famishius Fantasticus
Famishius Vulgaris Ingeniusi
Famishius-Famishius
Famishus Vulgarus
Famishus-Famishus
Hardheadipus Oedipus
Hard-Headipus Ravenus
Hungrii Flea-Bagius
Overconfidentii Vulgaris
Road-Runnerus Digestus

And I'm sure that Doug H. and Mark B. know all of the scientific names for
the roadrunner.

Accelerati Incredibilus
Accelleratii Incredibus
Batoutahelius
Birdibus Zippibus
Birdius High-Ballius
Burn-em Upus Asphaltus
Burnius-Roadibus
Delicius-Delicius
Dig-Outius Tid-Bittius
Digoutius-Hot-Rodis
Digoutius-Unbelieveus
Disappearialis Quickius
Fastius Tasty-us
Hot-Roddicus Supersonicus
Speedipus-Rex
Super-Sonicus-Tonicus
Super-Sonnicus Idioticus
Tastyus Supersonicus
Tid-Bittius Velocitus
Velocitus Delectiblus
Velocitus Incalculus
Velocitus Tremenjus

Oh, I love the Internet.

You need to come to Natchitohes more often. They are common in the
Kisatchie Hills south of town. On two occasions Kathy has encountered
them commuting on the Interstate.

First time she narrowly avoided hitting one, and the second time she
connected to the tune of $800. Good thing it didn't scoop up onto the
windshield.

I came out with some metal shears to cut away fender so we could drive the
car. We looked for not-so-Wiley and couldn't find it. He did leave a tuft
of fur caught between the tire and rim.

I've also seen them on the roadside (alive) in the hills just North of
here.
