They are "conservative" frames, that is, they are dimensioned so that you might get too much in your final shot (showing you too little in the actual frame). I found out that the 85 was pretty useless for the Jupiter-9 (an 85/2.0 Sonnar lens from the former Soviet Union). But since it was not showing all you got, it was showing a pretty comfortable 90mm. I just checked. The 35mm lines are also now showing all you will get. Comparing the 35mm on the Helios finder to the 40mm finder on my busted CL, it is a pretty close match.
