I have toured one WWII sub at Mobile, Alabama, and it is amazing how tight the quarters are. The only thing I have found more claustrophobic is to crawl into 30-inch plant ducting to inspect turning vanes for cracks. Even with double-valve protection from the rest of the plant, I never got comfortable with it.
