She taught me well with the match-needle metering and using the stop down switch. I've owned a few Spotmatics in the last few years and have either sold or donated them to a student who needed one. Aside from the M series Leicas, I really do think that the Spotmatics are perhaps the finest cameras to ever come out of that era. The fit, finish, controls and lenses are top shelf. That winder on the Spotmatic feels like the buttery clutch wind of the M3. One of my favorite cameras and one of the most overlooked great cameras. I've always wanted one in black paint... -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+photo.forrest=earthlink.net@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+photo.forrest=earthlink.net@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Mark Rabiner Sent: Thursday, March 08, 2007 12:24 AM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] IMG: A few recent shots On 3/7/07 11:07 PM, "Philip Forrest" <photo.forrest@earthlink.net> typed: > I traveled to NYC this weekend to visit my girlfriend and exposed a good > amount of film. One of the main cameras I'd check out from the Media Center when I went to Webster College in Webster Groves MO in the mid 70's was a classic Pentax Spotmatic with a SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens. I think super multi coating had not quite come out but maybe it had. This camera had such a superior feel to the Nikon F2 I had and the Canon FTB I'd sometimes use it wasn't funny. Put a smile on your face. This was before "ergonomics" Ergo the word "feel". Mark Rabiner 8A/109s New York, NY markrabiner.com _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
