Robert Johnson is a Delta blues slide guitarist, and the primary influence
on Eric Clapton (Crossroads and the recent album of Robert Johnson songs).
It used to be called "Bottleneck", because in the early days they wood slip
the neck of a broken bottle over their fingers to play, today its usually a
hollow metal cylinder. The best living slide guitarist is probably Ry Cooder
- his album with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt ( a sort of slide guitarist from India),
called "A Meeting by the River" is a delight, and highly recommended.
