We invite candidates to conduct, but first exhaust them through four days of meetings all the important orchestra committees, the press, local donors and politicians, three orchestra rehearsals, a rehearsal with the youth orchestra--and then expect them to take a pick-up orchestra and become the reincarnation of Toscanini. I'm surprised that any are standing after the Saturday concert. Nerve-wracking as the sermon may be, at least you're in control. You should do great! Besides, any religious group that quotes Gracie Allen in their outreach program definitely has my vote. Search committee members come to listen and evaluate. Talk about stress! :-) Ken ----------------------------------- The Rev.
