No, it is the "new" Nikon S3. When they first came out with an insane price 
tag of $5K+, nobody thought anyone would actually buy one to use as a 
camera. And at that price, Nikon was apparently still losing money on them. 
B&H now has them for less than half that price, which is apparently below 
dealer cost. That put them well within a reasonable price when you look at 
the current price of Leica MP or Leica M7 bodies, or even the Zeiss Ikon 
body. But the lens is really the selling point of the Nikon S3 2000 kit. You 
might want to peruse this comparison with the 50/1.4 asph 'Lux.

Please don't flame me, guys. I'm not criticizing Leica. I just like this 
Nikon.
