Hi Everyone,

Frankly I see no reason to compare possessions for their ostentation value.
I enjoy driving a well-maintained car, whatever image of me it suggests to
others. I don't think I could do photography without my car, at this time a
faithful 1990 dark red Camry.

I choose a camera for the conditions I expect to meet, not for social
effect. I'll use a Minox 35 GT when I'm traveling light. I'll take along my
Leica M3 with a fast lens for EL work. I'll use my good old N2020 for
sports. And a D70 for family affairs.

I'll use a film camera when I want the permanency of a negative. Maybe those
of my subjects in the know consider my choice of film a compliment.

What I can't figure out is why my neighbors leave an expensive new car
outdoors while their garage is stuffed to the rafters with junk of all
sorts. How often do they need that huge gas heated rotisserie, etc.? I know
folks who will spend their weekends hunting down old furniture in garage
sales so they can jam more worthless items into their garage.

I try to reduce my dragshadow as time passes.
I've shed tears of joy when I gave away two middle-aged Macs. There are few
others I fear more than relatives bearing gifts.

Bob
