I think Eric Welch went to work for a paper in Grants Pass, OR after he
left Missouri. He was very active on the Compuserve Photo Forum and
really promoted the LUG there. He was everywhere, and then suddenly
nowhere.

No, probably the other guy ... Eric Welch or something like that. He 
started as a journalist in Missouri and went on to be an editor of a 
catalogue of gems or something like that. Color management was very 
important.
