This, obviously, was taken within minutes of the first one, though in shadow this time. Therefore, it has a vaguely menacing mood as compared with the first one, With a wider aperture and much less DOF, I elected to prefocus on the area where the birds were approaching the boat. I think shots like this demonstrate the unique advantage of the rangefinder camera. You can "see it coming" and time the shutter release accordingly. It's much harder to do with an SLR and -- because of shutter lag -- darned near impossible with any digital camera I've used.
