I just noticed an online Q&A with Assistant Managing Editor for
Photography Michele McNally at
http://www.nytimes.com/ref/business/media/asktheeditors.html .

In response to a query from an amateur photographer who asks about the
equipment the NYT photographers use, she says:

> A. Yes, all of our photographers are equipped digitally. We currently
> use Canon 35mm Mark II's and D5's with a variety of lenses from 10mm
> to 600 mm. We have Hasselblad large format equipment that shoots
> film.

Now, am I being overly sensitive when I read something like this?

I have to wonder how they convert the Canon 35mm images to digital, and
where they found large format instead of medium format Hasselblads.

Maybe I'm just being overly picky.

And maybe she doesn't need to know what equipment her staff is using
because she has a great eye for composition and news value.

Anyone with knowledge of the newspaper business care to chime in here?
