Market price...........East Coast or West Coast? Average wedding photography
is $1500. You could use the pay per hour approach which can be anything from
$100-$250. I've read Wedding Magazines that state you should pay the
photographer 10% of the wedding costs. In reality the prices are all over
the place. I charge from $1900 - $2700. In CA and NY it can be
$3000-$10,000.

I photographed my friends wedding last Sept in NY. I was returning the favor
since he photographed my wedding. Since this was during the Katrina debacle,
he insisted on paying for my time at least. I did not want to take the money
but it did cover plane travel and hotel. And the wedding album was on me.

I'd say $500 is fair for advanced amateur.

Now he's your brother so he should run screaming out of the house and only
return after agreeing not to photograph the wedding :)

Or perhaps there's a lens/second body that is needed for the wedding????
