But Don, they did try: Buffon earned his title of the best keeper in the 
world quite a while back and Jens Lehmann has just become worth 10 
million euros more.
David Odonkor was up and down the field faster than light, but Germany 
just didn't get the chance to complete any of their attacks, Lahm was 
covered, Ballack wasn't at all impressive, Schneider did some good stuff 
on the wings but couldn't get his passes past the Italians - the winners 
really are  the keepers - Barthez will probably be the winner of the 
next semi. A penalty shoot out would have been a fitting finish for a so 
balanced match.
It would be nice if either Zidane or Figo could win the world Cup before 
retiring from the game.  I think it will be Zidane and Les Bleus who 
take the pot home (again).
