Actually the snow is that way usually into July at Crater Lake.  They 
actuall 
tell you that it never fully melts as the snow is year round.  And the water 
is truely the blueist you have ever seen.  When we visited one year in early 
July, they had just opened the roads, after finally clearing them, and the 
snow 
was just as in Peters photo, well over head.
