However, before doing so, I just want to say that I find it peculiar that some of those who complain about the standards of photography displayed by members of this list have posted precious few images of their own. So, here are my answers to George's questions, using my PAW 25 posted earlier today as an example. My answers apply to the vast majority of the images I have posted here since joining the list 8 years ago. > 1. "Why did you make this photograph?" Because I document the world around me with my camera. > 2. "Why did you use these techniques?" Because those are the films/developers/cameras/lenses (and now digital equipment) that I feel allow me to do the above with the least amount of fuss and giving me the best results I am capable of. > 3. "Why did you compose it in this way?" Because it looked good when I looked through the finder; alternatively, in the case of cropped images, because it looked good on the computer screen. > 4. "Why did you choose these colors (tones, contrast)?" To emphasize the elements in the picture that I wished the viewers to focus on. > 5. "Did your decisions re: the above achieve your desired effect?" That is for others to judge. Sometimes I miss, sometimes I get a hit. That is true for virtually everyone else here. I am sorry I cannot be more intellectual than this. I am suffering severe withdrawal symptoms due to the absence of football (soccer) on TV for the past 48 hours.
