Very capable machine but if you are doing 35mm (and this is the LUG) there is no getting away from a dedicated film scanner. I'm amazed your 4000 needs replacing unless you do thousands of scans a week. If that is the case you might wan to consider how long it will take you to scan 35mm negs on an Epson. Walt p.s. my first Nikon Coolscan lasted from 1997 to 2005. I scan a lot, or at least did at one time. mehrdad wrote: > ric do u also print the scans (say 8x10 or 11x14) or just for web, i > like the idea of flat bad multi format and batch mode though a little > concerned about the scans it produces > > On 6/28/06, Ric Carter <ricc@mindspring.com> wrote: > >> Epson 4870 >> >> Ric Carter >> http://gallery.leica-users.org/Passing-Fancies >> >> On Jun 28, 2006, at 12:06 PM, mehrdad wrote: >> >> > what scanner do you all use? i think i am getting ready to get one. >> > currently i use a nikon 4000 and i think it is near the end of its >> > life. >> > ------------------------------------- >> > regards, mehrdad >> > >> > _______________________________________________ >> > Leica Users Group. >> > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Leica Users Group. >> See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information >> > >
