It seems that folks get a bit upset when their speciman trees get chewed up
and dragged into the rivers and creeks.  So the local beavers get trapped
and sent off to "a better place".

As to the other meanings for beaver, we had another protest over the Harry
Potter books in our public schools today as an analogy.
